The local community is very important to Playcare. We aim to explore and use this environment as much as possible, bringing learning and developing to the wider context rather than just the playrooms. Learning becomes real, with new sensory experiences in environments that are exciting and familiar. Each group will gain something different from exploring the community, whether this is a sensory walk to the park, a trip to the library or shops or our Annual ‘Celebration of School’ Party in the Park.

Visitors and parents are also a great part of Playcare, and enrich nursery life for each child. Visitors can be parents/grandparents reading a story and sharing their time with us to the police or the dentist coming to nursery and telling us about their job and showing us what they do.
